Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
17 years
What is your primary product or service?
Video production and post production for individuals and small businesses. We transfer film and video tape to DVDs, hard drives and flash drives, specializing in "legacy" formats -- Beta Max, VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, 8mm, Hi-8 and digital 8 -- as well as files from digital cameras.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I began working in television in 1964, continued using TV and video in my research and teaching at the University of Washington from 1967 through 1998, then joined my wife in her company and have worked in video production ever since as a producer, cameraman and editor. My wife began working in video production in 1990, following a 35 year career as a professional theatrical lighting designer. She has worked in general video production and in taking legal video depositions. She founded our company in 1998.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our business focuses on so-called "low end" and "legacy" activity. We provide a service that is extremely difficult to find in the Seattle area, transferring old material to contemporary formats and working with individuals creating photo montages, athletic recruiting tapes, etc., and with small business owners to create affordable promotional materials for in-store and web use.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One location. We have no plans to expand.
