Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Started as a hobby in 1976 and when full time in 1992 during the time I was living in Montana. Moved to Washington in 1995 and have been located in Country Village ever since.
What is your primary product or service?
I have made a variety of knives over the years but specialize in the new patented locking folder called the Xross Bar Lock.
Make a kitchen knife from time to time as well as others including Damascus knives.
A good part of my business is knife sharpening and with the 38 years of experience I may be the best in town or at least hard to beat.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
As an avid outdoors-man and hunter I naturally had an interest in knives and how to keep them sharp.
While browsing the book rack at Dan Baily's Fly shop in Livingston Montana, I discovered a book called the "Gun Digest Book of Knives". I took it home, read it twice and set out to make my first knife. I been hooked ever since.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
My services for sharpening are far more reasonable than the only other shop offering the same quality service in the area.
As far as the knives that I make, I have spent many hours teaching the craft to new makers across the country.
Sure it is sometimes hard to keep up with so many fine artist that are now in the field but I now have the most unique folder in the business due to our patented Xross Bar Locking system.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I only have the one location here in Country Village.

What type of payments do you accept?
I take Visa/Master cards but I do not take American Express. Cash is welcome.
Which areas do you service?
I do not have a service route.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
It's all me,
What are your hours of operation?
Tuesday through Friday 10:00 to 6:00
Saturday & Sunday 11:00 to 5:00
Mondays closed
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
Never gave it any thought.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
