How long have you been in business?
Environmental Construction, Inc. has been crafting unique outdoor living spaces since 1990.
What is your primary product or service?
We offer residential landscape consultations, design and build services. We also offer follow up garden stewardship services. Our construction staff includes experts in site work, drainage, rock outcroppings, hillside stabilization and steps. We offer concrete, paver and flagstone patio and walk construction. We design and build decks, railings, pergolas and trellis's. We design and build fire pits and fire places and outdoor kitchens. We offer irrigation and water feature design / build and maintenance services as well as extraordinary plantings and mulching.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
It all started when I was a much younger man who preferred to work outside rather than inside. That led to a course of studies in Forestry at my home town community college which ultimately ended with a BS degree in Landscape Horticulture (the study of plants) from The Ohio State University. My father's idea of a gentle push from the nest was to purchase a round trip plane ticket to Seattle as my graduation gift. I was offered a job and relocated here in 1979. I have worked in the green industry ever since.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
#1) Experience matters. We offer initial consultations where we try to find the balance between our clients functional sense of aesthetics and their financial restraints. #2) We try very hard to avoid building ugly or dis-functional spaces. #3) With our holistic approach to landscape development, we can usually help our clients figure unique ways to package and phase their projects over time.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We operate out of my home office in Kirkland with an equipment yard in Woodinville. My experienced staff reside in a geographic area from Monroe through Kirkland and on down to Burien. Chances are we would have you covered.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, check, and Master or Visa card with a service fee if needed.
Which areas do you service?
Our primary service areas include Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Issaquah, Sammamish and Seattle.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Tom Barrett owns this enterprise. Lori Beehner is our general and logistics manager. Jon Daughtry works closely with Tom and Lori as our most experience field and operations supervisor. Adam Tharp is our lead gardener and Travis Bergner is our lead carpenter.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday through Friday 8:00 to 5:00 and by appointment.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That my staff rocks. Honestly, I am currently blessed with a very competent, English speaking staff who excel at problem solving and zero punch list project completion. We can be the single source for those busy clients who would like "turn key" production with a single well connected point person.
